  •  Support Engineer - Los Angeles

    We're looking for an enthusiastic and outgoing person to join our IT Support team in our LA office. You will be working with a vast and complex array of technologies for one of the world's leading visual effects and animation studios.  You will work out of Venice/Hollywood/Burbank locations and also interface with our Sydney and Vancouver studios.  The majority of the work will be face-to-face with producers/head of departments and will require some email correspondence with our Sydney support team during their business hours.  Ideal candidate should have knowledge of the animation production process, excellent communication and follow-up skills, understanding of the demands of production, and have a willingness to support production as dictated by their schedules.
     
     
    Duties and responsibilities include:
     
    • Provide 1st/2nd level technical support.
    • Assist in the planning and implementation of additions, deletions and major modifications to the supporting local infrastructure.
    • Follow IT procedures as established by the Sydney studio.
    • Oversee the administration and maintenance of the company's Los Angeles infrastructure, including workstations, servers, storage, network, tape backups and video equipment.
    • Ensure the reliable and efficient handling of video media and image data to meet the needs of staff and clients through all service areas (transfer, duplication, display, editing, archiving).
    • Maintain video & data capture & transfer systems (Mac, PC or other).
    • Perform maintenance on a broad range of video equipment, including display set-ups and alignment through to cabling and routing, if required.
    • Manage the company's IP telephone and Video Conferencing systems at the local level.
    • Occasional requirement to perform after hours and/or weekend support.
    • Relocation of IT equipment (moving machine/s, monitors etc).
    • Ensure that asset management, licensing, OH&S, and other company policies are being adhered to.
    • Get quotes and manage vendors as required
    • Assist with project tasks driven by the Sydney studio.
    • Generate and maintain both internal and end user documentation, as required.
    • Take calls from Editorial when issues arise and respond appropriately;
    • Strong knowledge of and experience with Avid Media Composer;
    • Escalate issues to vendors if required;
    • Assistance with daily office duties:  includes phone coverage, opening/closing of the office, office moves, etc.; position is considered part of the office administration rotation (when coverage is necessary).

    Requirements:

    To be successful in this role, the following will be required:
     
    • Must have relevant technical skills and experience
    • Previous experience in either a senior support role or mid-level system engineering role
    • Must have strong communication skills
    • Strong troubleshooting skills
    • Linux, Windows and OSX Operating System exposure.
    • Networking and connectivity skills
    • MAC/PC maintenance and software installation
    • Installation and upgrading of MAC/PC hardware
    • Film/VFX Industry experience, a plus.

    Animal Logic is looking for a 1st Assistant Editor for our first Animated Feature in Vancouver!
     
    The 1st Assistant Editor’s main responsibilities are:

    • To bring creative solutions to sequences of the Lego ® Movie 2, ensuring solutions are in line with production parameters including budgets, shot count allowances, and duration targets
    • Leading a team of Assistant Editors, managing their time, priorities and project-specific knowledge
    • Ensuring the delivery of all video/image/audio request and deliverables to the editors
    • Work with the support engineers to maintain the integrity of the editing equipment, tracking and configuring media storage
    • Ensuring all editors hardware/software runs correctly with minimal issues, reporting any concerns to the Edit TD
    • Responsible for Avid projects structure and back up
    • Assisting with any overflow work from the Picture Editor
    • Communicating day to day status and any needs to production
    • Prep all cuts at various stages including blocking, WIP and screenings

    Key responsibilities include:
    • Work with artists to manage their career development and ongoing opportunities within the studio

  •  Production Supervisor - LEGO ®2

    We are about to commence our next slate of Animated feature films and we are looking for energetic and experienced Production Supervisors to join our Vancouver team.
     
    Key Responsibilities include:
     
    • The Production Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of all processes, procedures, outputs and deliverables for their respective department(s) and ensuring the outputs and interactions of those departments are aligned with production needs.
    • A Production Supervisor is assigned to a specific department or group of departments and is an integral part of the management structure of that team or teams.
    • Assists the Production Manager and Associate Producer in assigning appropriate manpower and scheduling to ensure completion of their respective departments goals.
    • Responsible for the day to day running of their department(s), managing established schedules through production planning, coordination and troubleshooting.
    • Provides the department supervisors and artists with support to enable them to complete their work.
    • Supervises Production Coordinators within their department(s).
    • Will work closely with other Production Supervisors to ensure that inventory moves smoothly from one department to the next.

  •  Senior Artist Manager

    To support our production structure we are seeking a Senior Artist Manager for our Vancouver studio.  This role reports into the Executive Vice President & General Manager of the Studio.
     

    Key responsibilities include:
    • Manage, coach and mentor Artists/TDs in the Vancouver studio
    • Work with Production and Recruitment to schedule existing and new hires into appropriate roles and establish longer term recruitment needs
    • Managing artist reviews, artist training and project scheduling to help develop and nurture career growth of the artists
    • Work with Craft Supervisors, Leads and Production to cultivate a strong studio culture and keep artists motivated and engaged
    • Conduct project/yearly compensation and performance reviews in collaboration with Craft Supervisors and Leads
    • Work with management team and HR on talent management strategies and processes
    • Working in with Head of Artist Management and peers across the various Animal Logic studios in Australia and the US

    • At least five years’ experience working in the Animation and Visual Effects industry

    We are currently looking for an experienced Software Engineer (Animation & Rigging), to join us in our new Vancouver facility and be a founding member of this team. You will work as a member of the global R&D department collaborating regularly with counterparts in the Sydney office.
     
    You will be working alongside some of the best artists and developers in the world applying your technical skills to create new tools and techniques for generating fluent character performances.  

    Key Responsibilities:
     
    • To work as a part of the global Development Team to continue the evolution of its animation production tools and processes, especially in the areas of animation and rigging

    We are about to commence our next slate of Animated feature films and we are looking for energetic and experienced Senior Software Engineer: Pipeline to join our Vancouver team.
     
    Key Responsibilities include:
     
    • Creating software used by artists in various craft departments
    • Building tools and interfaces, enabling asset flow, scene assembly and scene manipulation
    • Support and manage complex workflows in a highly iterative pipeline
    • Excellent ability to communicate effectively with both technical and creative crew
    • Ability to demonstrate your capability to operate independently as well as within a larger team

    We will be adapting our existing Lego pipeline to meet the creative requirements of several new films and you will collaborate daily with production and technical personnel in both Vancouver and Sydney.

    Knowledge of Nuke is handy but not necessary.  We tend to look for art based skills rather than technical based software skills.

    Whilst we conduct this training during downtime at the studio, it is also in preparation for possible upcoming projects.  However, completing this training does not guarantee you a role on our next project and unfortunately we cannot guarantee when the next project will commence.
