Rey: "Not everything has to be about something."
David Michod's dystopic new film The Rover is set in the Australian outback of the near future after a major economic collapse has created a listless and somewhat lawless way of life. The visual effects scattered throughout the film are nuances to help art direct the look of the locations and so build the 'world' of the film.
This primarily involved ageing various buildings and modern infrastructure as if they had recently fallen into disrepair. Bullet holes, muzzle flashes, glass debris and blood smears were also part of the scope of work as was creating the foreboding images of armed militia on a passing iron ore train.
We very much enjoyed working with David and Liz and thank them in having us play a small part in shaping the world of The Rover.
