Founded in 1991 and driven by a simple philosophy – ‘to create GREAT WORK with GREAT PEOPLE’, Animal Logic is recognised as one of the world’s leading independent creative digital studios, producing award winning design, visual effects and animation for over 25 years.
From creating mischievous bunnies in Peter Rabbit, building heroic minifigs in The LEGO Movies, battling fierce fighting owls in The Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole to teaching prancing penguins how to dance in Happy Feet, Animal Logic inspires audiences around the world with great stories, breathtaking visuals, compelling characters, memorable performances, and ground breaking technology!
With teams in Sydney, Los Angeles and Vancouver Animal Logic has never wavered from its core mission – to CREATE, to INNOVATE, to ENGAGE and to captivate audiences across the globe, producing great screen content with our incredible creative partners.
Our Studio habitats are located at Sydney’s Fox Studios and bustling Yaletown in Vancouver, where the most talented artists and technicians from around the world come to live, work and play.
Our development and production teams at Animal Logic Entertainment and Truant Pictures are also based at Fox Studios in Sydney and at the group’s creative headquarters at our other beachside habitat, Venice Beach in California!
Let’s step back in time to 1991 when Animal Logic was based out of Crows Nest, Sydney – where a small team of 10 passionate and inspired artists and technicians came together to do GREAT work! Fast forward 26 years and we have an abundance of talented ANIMALS now based out of the Fox Studios lot in Moore Park. Although it’s a bigger team, they’re still busy innovating, pushing creative and technical boundaries and most importantly, collaborating to create awesome stories using Animal Logic’s unique voice and visual style. The Sydney studio has recently completed the hybrid feature Peter Rabbit and is currently in production on The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part and visual effects on Captain Marvel.
After the blockbuster success of The LEGO Movie, Animal Logic expanded its operations into Vancouver, Canada opening a second animation studio in September 2015.
Animal Logic Vancouver is in an exclusive partnership with Warner Bros. forming part of a three picture deal to produce The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, which is currently in production at the studio and scheduled for release in 2019, and two yet to be announced animated features. Our Vancouver Studio is made up of a passionate and creative bunch, so if you are feeling inspired and want to join our team, look out for a call from the WILD… we are growing!
Located on Abbot Kinney Blvd in the heart of Venice, the Westside offices of Animal Logic Entertainment (ALE) are home to the LA based creative development team and are frequently the home-away-from-home for our travelling Sydney and Vancouver Animals. Fueled by a fridge full of artisanal coconut water and a steady supply of Tim-Tams, our team is focused on a diverse and eclectic slate of projects in the family animated and hybrid space and have recently expanded development to include a genre sub-label with an eye toward contained, elevated science fiction and supernatural thrillers.
ALE recently completed production on the hybrid feature Peter Rabbit starring Rose Byrne, James Corden and Margot Robbie, which was released in early 2018. As if wrangling talking rabbits doesn’t keep them busy enough, they have also announced a joint venture with Imagine Entertainment to develop, produce, and co-finance a slate of feature length animation and hybrid animation projects over the next five years for the whole family to enjoy. Stay tuned for more press on this new venture as ALE continues to do great work with wonderfully creative and amazingly talented people. Check-out our ALE page for more info and a sneak peak at some of our other projects!
In 2018, Animal Logic announced a new production company, Truant Pictures! Truant will primarily develop and produce the films in collaboration with emerging and established Australian talent. Wherever possible the films will be produced in Australia for a worldwide market.
