Media Systems Engineer (Baselight)

We are seeking a Media Systems Engineer who will be responsible for providing high level support relating to frontline maintenance and troubleshooting of all physical and post-production related equipment, including Baselight technology, a number of onsite theatres, and complex audio/video systems. This position is also required to assist with the planning, designing, procurement and implementation of media and theatre technology systems.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Maintenance of media server hardware and associated software (primarily on Linux)
  • Support of Baselight services for DI team
  • Creation and maintenance of documentation using various tools including Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Office, Visio etc.
  • Support of editorial workflows (Avid)
  • Perform hardware, firmware and software upgrades
  • Assist with improving the workflow and pipeline processes for post-production services
  • Conducting research, evaluating new technology and trends to assess impact on workflows
  • Liaise with Support and Infrastructure teams to maximize system performance and reliability
  • Perform programming modifications to video and KVM routing systems
  • Management of control systems for various automation systems
  • Participate in off-hours maintenance, upgrades and installation for systems when required
  • Work to ensure best security practices are met and maintained
  • Provide basic technical training to staff as required
  • Provide assistance to the IT Support team on occasions

What you bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in Audio Visual/Broadcast or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Experience in a similar role is highly desirable
  • Experience in entertainment/media industry is highly desirable
  • Installation and maintenance experience of complex audio/video systems
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting editorial workflows (Avid)
  • Experience with projection technology and applications and AV networking streaming technology is highly desirable
  • Ability to perform programming modifications to video and KVM routing systems
  • Demonstrated ability in troubleshooting AV issues in a live environment
  • Ability to create and maintain accurate documentation and provide basic technical training
  • Collaborative and customer focused with the ability to manage internal and external relationships
  • Basic colour theory experience
  • Flexibility of work practices – performing in both your individual tasks and as part of a wider IT team
  • Ability to work under pressure in client facing scenarios (think a Director viewing a pre-screening session!)
