The Academy was launched 2016 and is a unique industry collaboration which aims to develop an environment where students work together to expand their creative professional practice, conceptual skills and technical dexterity. The Academy offers a space to create, innovate and engage with new technologies. It teaches students to look forward and drive the development of new creative industry sectors. The Master of Animation and Visualisation (MAV) degree has been co-curated by educators at UTS and industry experts working at Animal Logic. The MAV is taught by UTS and Animal Logic, as well as mentors from the industry.
The MAV is a post-graduate degree that enables students to build on their existing skills and experience in animation, visualisation, visual effects, game production, software development, IT and the use of emerging technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality. Learning takes place in a purpose-built studio that is modelled on a professional production environment. In order to be eligible, applicants do not need to have completed a Bachelor Degree however, they will be required to demonstrate their skills as a part of the application process.
The MAV responds to a critical demand by the industry for graduates with expertise in their field. Students will graduate as the ‘smart creatives’ of the future, ready to lead the creative workforce, innovate in traditional professions and drive the development of new industry sectors.
